Membership Agreement

Membership Agreement for Play Mandarin TCML

These terms and conditions and any schedules (as may be varied from time to time) shall constitute your membership agreement ("Membership Agreement") with Play Mandarin TCML.

By registering as a member of Play Mandarin TCML and attending our face-to-face classes, you agree to accept the terms of this Membership Agreement. Please print out and save a copy of your Membership Agreement and contact us in case of any issues. We will keep a record of your acceptance of this Membership Agreement.

1. General Terms

1.1 Definitions

  • Annual Fee: The Fee payable upon joining and annually for a "pay as you go" Membership.

  • Booking: The booking on the Website of a class or series of classes or other facilities and events provided by Play Mandarin TCML.

  • Play Mandarin TCML (or "us, we, our"): PLAY MANDARIN LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13866923, with its office at Highland House, 165 The Broadway, London, SW19 1NE.

  • Class Fee: The Fee for an individual class.

  • Home Club: The Play Mandarin TCML location you have chosen as your primary learning centre.

  • Commencement Date: The date you pay your Joining Fee and first Monthly Fee (or a deferred Commencement Date as agreed by us).

  • Joining Fee: The Fee you must pay to become a Member.

  • Fees: Includes the Joining Fee, Monthly Fee, Annual Fee, Workshop Fee, and any other applicable fees charged by Play Mandarin TCML for its membership services/classes.

  • Monthly Fees: The monthly Fee payable as a monthly Member.

  • Membership or Member (or "you", "your"): Your Membership in Play Mandarin TCML.

  • Partners: Third-party businesses that assist in providing classes or other services to our Members (including Premises, instructors, teachers, third-party payment processors, and businesses offering discounts to Members).

  • Premises: Any venue where Play Mandarin TCML provides classes.

  • Online Classes: Virtual classes available to Members. A timetable of Online Classes will be published on the Website, Self-service portal, and App.

2. Membership

  • Your Membership starts on the Commencement Date for the type of Membership selected (e.g., Unlimited, Pick Your 4 Plan, etc.).

  • You agree to pay the Joining Fee and any applicable Fees as specified by Play Mandarin TCML.

  • Fees may be adjusted at our discretion. Members will be notified via email of any changes.

  • Fees paid upfront are non-refundable, except at Play Mandarin TCML’s sole discretion.

  • You are entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period from your Commencement Date. If you cancel within this period, your Monthly Fee will be refunded (less £15 per face-to-face class attended). The Joining Fee is non-refundable.

  • Play Mandarin TCML reserves the right to reject any Membership application at its sole discretion.

  • Members must be over 18 years of age.

  • You may be required to present booking confirmation upon entry to Premises.

  • Your Membership is for personal use only and cannot be transferred or shared.

  • Payment processing is handled by a third-party payment processor, and we do not store payment details.

  • Play Mandarin TCML may take photographs/videos during classes. Consent will be obtained before using such media for promotional purposes.

 

3. Payment Terms and Class Bookings

  • Membership is billed monthly, starting from the Commencement Date, and automatically renews unless cancelled.

  • To cancel a class booking, Members must do so at least 24 hours in advance via the online booking system.

  • A three-strike policy applies for repeated failure to cancel booked classes, which may result in suspension or termination of Membership.

  • Members can attend classes at any Play Mandarin TCML location.

 

4. Membership Changes (Upgrades, Downgrades, Freezing, and Cancellations)

Upgrades and Downgrades

  • Members may upgrade their Membership at any time with immediate effect.

  • Members may downgrade their Membership by providing one month’s notice in writing.

Freezing Membership

  • Members may pause their Membership twice per year, for a maximum of 3 months per freeze.

  • One month's written notice is required to freeze Membership.

  • If Membership is not reactivated after the freeze period, it will be automatically terminated.

Cancellations

  • Members must provide a full calendar month's notice from their payment date to cancel their Membership.

  • Cancellation requests must be submitted via the designated cancellation form.

  • Unused class credits will not be refunded upon Membership termination.

  • Workshops and event bookings are non-refundable but can be transferred to another Member.

  • Refund Policy for Exceptional Circumstances: In cases of severe illness, injury, relocation, or other exceptional situations, Members may request a refund for unused Membership fees. A formal request must be submitted with supporting documentation (e.g., medical certificates, proof of relocation). Refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of Play Mandarin TCML.

5. Trial Class Options

  • First Trial Class: We offer a complimentary trial class to all new prospective Members to experience our teaching approach and facilities.

  • Second Trial Class: After the initial free trial, individuals have the option to attend a second trial class at a fee of £16. This paid trial is a one-time opportunity. To continue attending classes beyond the second trial, individuals are required to enroll in one of our Membership plans.

6. Miscellaneous

  • This Agreement is governed by English law.

  • Members may not transfer their Membership to third parties.
